Clinical Indications: Level: EMT-P only
Ř Presence of an epidural catheter in a patient requiring transport
Procedure:
a. Prior to transport, ensure that the catheter is secure and the transport personnel are familiar with the medication(s) being delivered and the devices used to control the medication delivery.
b. No adjustments in catheter positioning are to be attempted.
c. No adjustments in medication dosage or administration are to be attempted without direct approval from on-line medical control.
d. Report any complications immediately to on-line medical control.
e. Document the time and dose of any medication administration or rate adjustment on the ACR.
Certification Requirements:
Successfully complete an annual skill evaluation including the indications, contraindications, technique, and possible complications of the procedure.
