PLASMA PROTEIN FRACTION

 

Class: Natural colloid

 

Mechanism of Actions: Protein containing colloid that remains in intravascular space.  Increase intravascular volume by pulling water into the vascular system by colloid osmotic pressure.

 

Indications: Hypovolimic shock, hypoproteinemia

 

Contraindications: None in Hypovolimic shock

 

Precautions: Monitor carefully

 

Side Effects: Chills, fever, nausea, vomiting, urticaria

 

Dosage: Titrate to patient’s hymodynamic response
