Class: Isotonic crystalloid

Mechanism Of Action: Replaces water and electrolytes. Diffuses out of intravascular spaces and into surrounding tissues in < 1 hour.

Indication: Hypovolemic Shock.

Contraindications: CHF. Renal Failure

Precaution: Monitor to prevent circulatory overload.

Side Effects: Rare in therapeutic doses

Dosage:

IV Infusion:

Titrate to desired effect

Severe Hypovolemic Shock:

“Wide Open” with large bore IV catheter until systolic BP of 90 mmHg, then decrease to 100 ml/hr.
