Class: Hypotonic dextrose containing solution

Mechanism of Action: Provides nutrients in form of dextrose as well as free water.

Indications:  IV access for emergency drugs, and dilution of concentrated drugs for IV infusion.

Contraindication: Fluid replacement in hypovolemic state.

Precautions: Careful with CHF patients due to circulatory overload.

Side Effects: Rare

Dosage: Typically used in TKO rate.
