Class: Benzodiazepine antagonist

Mechanism of Action: Reverses respiratory and sedative effects of benzodiazepine.

Indication: Confirmed overdose of benzodiazepine

Contraindications: Do not use as a diagnostic agent for benzodiazepine overdose, hypersensitivity, Tricyclic overdose.

Precaution: Use EXTREME caution with patients dependent on benzodiazepine due to its withdrawal can be life threatening with seizures, HTN, and tachycardia.

Side Effects: Seizures, Fatigue, Headache, Dizziness, Dysrhythmias

Dosage: 0.2mg IV over 30 seconds – Repeat as needed to max 1.0mg
