ICEMS NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

About Us
HISTORY
The Iredell County Board of
Commissioners authorized the development of a county based
EMS agency in 1975. The agency opened and
began to serve the county's citizens in August of that same year.
The service now operates at the EMT-Paramedic level of care (the highest level
offered in the State of North Carolina).
Iredell County EMS
(ICEMS) is the primary EMS provider for the
598 square mile county. The county contains five incorporated municipalities
also served by ICEMS; Statesville, Mooresville, Troutman, Harmony, and Love
Valley. Iredell County is divided by two major
interstates. Interstate 77 dived the county vertically and it is transected
horizontally by Interstate 40.
The agency is now comprised of full-time and part-time paid professionals at the
EMT, Intermediate, and Paramedic levels. At least one Paramedic is on every
response vehicle. Around the clock and year round, these dedicated professionals
serve the county population that now exceeds 130,000+.
AGENCY
STRUCTURE
24 hours per day ICEMS operates seven ambulances with two
EMS professionals on each ambulance.
One ambulance is stationed in the town of Harmony in the northeast corner of the
county.
One ambulance is located in the Trinity Volunteer Fire Department in the Northern end
of the county.
Three ambulances are stationed in the county seat of Statesville, in the center
of the county.
One ambulance is stationed in the town of Troutman, South of Statesville.
Two ambulances are stationed in the City of Mooresville (Race City USA) in the
Southern end of the county.
ICEMS also operates 3 Quick Response Vehicles (QRV's). Each is staffed by one
paramedic each.
One QRV is located in the Lake Norman Volunteer Fire Department on the Southern
end of the county.
Two QRV's are roving shift supervisors with one being
assigned to the Northern end of the county and one assigned to the Southern end.
